Cyber Security Trends

This report, from the Organization of American States and

Symantec describes the current state of cybersecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean. The report summarizes current trends in cybercrime, and best practices for enterprises in dealing with attacks. Additionally, the report includes cybercrime profiles on countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, describing current efforts in building the governance structures need for manageing cybersecurity and cybercrime on a national level.

Broadly, the trend in the Caribbean is that mechanisms for dealing with cybercrime are not widely in place at the national level, and many countries lack a coherent strategy on managing the issue. However, there appears to be an emerging awareness within governments of the threat posed by cybercrime, and this may signal a readiness for the development of improved cybersecurity infrastructure in the region.
